Septembre Musical Montreux-Vevey 2026: full programme for the 80th edition

The 80th edition of Septembre Musical Montreux-Vevey runs from Wednesday 9 September to Friday 18 September 2026. After two years away while the Montreux Music & Convention Center was rebuilt, the festival returns to its historic home, the Auditorium Stravinski, for six of its ten nights. The rest of the programme spreads across four other Riviera landmarks — Château de Chillon, Caux Palace, the Fairmont Le Montreux Palace, and Théâtre Le Reflet in Vevey.

The five festival venues

Septembre Musical Montreux-Vevey marks its 80th edition in 2026, having been founded in 1946. After two sold-out years in 2024 and 2025 — a first in the festival's history, according to director Mischa Damev — the 80th edition returns to Auditorium Stravinski for six of its ten concerts, spanning five venues across Montreux and Vevey. The programme keeps the format that made that happen: Classic & Lab, pairing marquee classical names with more exploratory, cross-genre bills.

Auditorium Stravinski (Montreux) — the festival's main stage, hosting six of the ten concerts from 13 to 18 September. This is the first Septembre Musical back in the venue since the Montreux Music & Convention Center's renovation began.

Théâtre Le Reflet (Vevey) opens the festival on 9 September. Château de Chillon (Veytaux) hosts the 10 September concert inside the lakeside castle. Caux Palace, above Montreux, hosts the 12 September evening, and the Fairmont Le Montreux Palace's Petit Palais hosts the 11 September two-piano recital.

The 80th edition of Septembre Musical runs ten concerts across five venues from 9–18 September 2026, featuring Gautier Capuçon, Daniil Trifonov, Marina Viotti and Ara Malikian among others. Two concerts — the 9 September opening night and the 10 September Château de Chillon recital — sold out ahead of the festival. Note: the Chaplin's World Gala originally scheduled for 13 September has been postponed to a later date by the festival organisers "for organisational reasons." Ticket holders are being refunded or offered exchanges. Check the official site for the rescheduled date.

Tickets and prices

Septembre Musical Montreux-Vevey 2026 tickets start at CHF 39, with a reduced CHF 10 rate for young people. A Golden Circle VIP package adds a category-A seat plus VIP lounge access for Auditorium Stravinski concerts. Tickets are sold online at shop.septembremusical.ch, by phone at +41 21 962 80 05, at the door one hour before each concert (subject to availability), by post, or in person at Montreux-Vevey Tourisme points in Montreux, Vevey and Villeneuve, at Ticketcorner outlets, and at the Migros culture service desks in Geneva.

Already sold out: Gautier Capuçon's opening night (9 September, Théâtre Le Reflet) and Avi Avital & Ksenija Sidorova (10 September, Château de Chillon). Peter Bence & orchestra (16 September) has last seats remaining — the rest of the Auditorium Stravinski programme was available as of publication.

Getting to Montreux and Vevey

Montreux and Vevey sit on the same Lake Geneva rail line, four minutes apart, with all five Septembre Musical 2026 venues reachable on foot or by a short bus ride from either station. Geneva is roughly 70 minutes away by direct InterCity train; Zurich is about two hours. Both towns are well connected for festival-goers arriving from across Switzerland or via Geneva Airport.

• From Geneva: ~70 minutes by direct InterCity train to Montreux; Vevey is four minutes earlier on the same line.
• From Lausanne: ~20–25 minutes to either town, with frequent connections through the evening.
• From Zurich: ~2 hours direct, hourly InterCity trains.
• From Geneva Airport: direct train to Montreux in around 80 minutes, changing at Geneva Cornavin.
• Château de Chillon and Caux: Chillon is reachable by local bus or a lakeside walk from Montreux; Caux is served by the Montreux–Glion–Rochers-de-Naye rack railway.

Montreux suits the six Auditorium Stravinski evenings (13–18 September) of Septembre Musical 2026; Vevey suits the Théâtre Le Reflet opening night and puts you close to Château de Chillon too.
